There are 54 members of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI) and at the annual exhibition members are allowed to exhibit 6 works. The Winsor & Newton/RI Award is for an outstanding group of paintings by an RI member. I was honoured to receive the award this year (for the second time) and was particularly pleased as the winner is chosen by my peers in the the RI Council.
It was wonderful to meet Shirley Trevena at the Mall Gallery having long been an admirer of her work.
She has been such a source of inspiration and continues to be so, especially having bought her latest book (which she kindly signed for me).
Please tell her that I (the lady with the small dog in a bag!) love her book having spent most of today poring over every page.
May she continue to paint many, many more glorious and colourful works of art.
Congratulations – have only seen small images on Making a Mark website. Would love to see them in the flesh, but would probably make do with an enlarged view on your website.
